Demolition Is Underway!

We moved out of our home into a two bedroom apartment in late October, and demolition subsequently began in mid-November. Our demo crew has been squeezing our project in, typically working late afternoons and weekends, so progress has been slow and steady. But, the good thing is, the crew has taken extra care to save items that can be salvaged/re-used, and has kept the job site very clean.

A view of our old kitchen (New kitchen will be moved forward and on the left side off the garage door will be a laundry/mudroom and against the window will be an awesome walk-in pantry).

View of our future primary bedroom (looking towards the primary bath and closet).

A view of the original portion of the second level opened up (Glass block is gone!). There is a full bath in the back corner (with the previous jacuzzi tub removed). There is loads of evidence of critters so we will be replacing all the insulation back there.

A view of the original second floor bath. This previous remodel was obviously a DIY-effort. I especially love how he framed for the medicine cabinets (including that block at center that is probably making up for a mis-cut), and how he placed that switch on the far left with some scraps!

We have even found some fun demolition treasures, such as this World War II era figurine from occupied Japan. The demo crew also found a hand-written envelope from 1948, an old dog toy, and some vintage peanut butter jars.

I can’t wait to have some more exciting updates to come. Stay tuned!
