Leawood Reno Before Video Tour
Hi there. Below is a video tour of our new home on move-in day in May of 2020. Sadly, it has not changed much since the video was taken, however, in the interim I have been drafting up plans and making what seems like endless decisions, which I will share in future posts.
I apologize in advance for flipping the camera orientation! I will try to do better in future.
What We Love
My husband and I fell in love with the neighborhood, which is extremely safe and walkable, and has old-growth oak trees that line the streets. We also loved that this home has its original thick limestone facade (a major selling point for my husband, who attended K-State). It was built in 1947, which is a year before the city was incorporated, and originally featured 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, a small garage, and a wood-burning fireplace in the living room (seen at front). It underwent an addition in 2003, in which some questionable decisions were made, but it enlarged the footprint to encapsulate enough space for our growing family. The addition added a fourth bedroom and third full bath, an enlarged kitchen, family room, screened porch, and a two-car garage at the back of the house. The addition also included an enlarged basement, which we hope to someday finish to include a den with wet bar, play space, small bonus room, and an additional full bath. The basement is not shown on the tour since it will not be included in the first renovation, but trust me, it’s currently scary and filled with spiders (and fills with water due to a busted drain line!).
I hope you enjoy the tour and stick with us for the remodel, slated to begin at the end of summer.
Welcome! I’m Jena. I am an interior designer and mom who has recently relocated to the Kansas City area. Thank you for following along as we uncover the true potential of our new home.
